Kennedy off to State short course swimming championships

Armidale swimmer Jay Kennedy swam above expectations at the NSW State Open Short Course championships at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on the weekend of August 11-12, swimming personal best times in all three races.
A member of the Armidale Alligators Swimming Club and a Year 10 student at The Armidale School, Kennedy was the only swimmer from the north who will be competing in the State SC championships.
In the 200m individual medley he placed 30th in a time of 2:17:37, 1:71 seconds better than his previous time. He cut 0:39 seconds off his time in the 200m backstroke, coming in at 32nd, five places above his seeding, while in the 400m individual medley in which he was seeded 28th, he finished in 22nd position in a time of 4:55:56 seconds, improving his personal best by 3:37 seconds.
Kennedy will next compete at the NSW State Age championships on August 24-26, competing in the 100m and 200m freestyle, the 100m and 200m backstroke, and the 200individual medley.
