OUR Netsetgo program tipped off on Saturday with more than 30 participants. It was great to see our young players from five years to 10 years join in as we endeavour to develop their skills and drills as well as involving them in being about to mix and play with new friends in a team environment. We are grateful to Dannielle Watters who has volunteered her time to run this program for the next nine weeks with the assistance of our rep players. Big thank you to Sandra O’Brien who stepped in to assist last Saturday and our rep players – Jordan O’Brien, Shelby Haresmenko, Alissa Malone and Kirsten Baker.
Our Monday night competition is into the final series with the finals being played on Monday night and the grand finals to be played on Monday night 27 May. All teams are invited to come on down and watch the grand finals in both Divisions which will be followed by presentations and a sausage sizzle. Our next Monday night competition will begin with sign-on on 5 August, with round one on 12 August.
Tweed reps hit the new courts at South Coast Netball Association Palm Beach on Sunday and produced some winning results. The 14s and 15s went through undefeated to claim the title in their Divisions. Coach of the 14s Viki Pengilley was impressed with the strong performance of her team throughout the day and can only be excited about this team competing at state to be held in Ipswich over the weekend of 8 to 10 June.
The 15s also gave their coach Danielle Watters confidence that their performance at state will be one to look forward after their winning performance over the weekend.
It was great to see all of our rep teams compete at South Coast, from our under-12s through to the opens. We certainly have a lot of talent at Tweed and it’s a thrill to be there to watch you all play. Well done. Our 12s and 13s plus our opens have a great weekend planned in Coffs Harbour this weekend. Best of luck to you all.
We are all revving up for the challenge carnival to be played at Arkinstall Park over the weekend of 22 to 24 June. There are 149 teams enrolled to play and we are expecting about 3500 attending our venue over this weekend. We apologise in advance to all of our neighbours for any inconvenience of that weekend and thank them for their patience. The challenge committee is in the process of finalising all details and the association is extremely happy to have the support of all of our clubs and their members.
