Nomads too strong for Cats

The New England Nomads hosted the Muswellbrook Cats at Bellevue Oval in round two of the Tamworth AFL competition on Saturday.
After a narrow defeat in round one to the Tamworth Swans the Nomads were looking to get back on track and keep some momentum early in the season. The Cats went into the game with confidence after their first round victory over the Dogs. However the Nomads took control of the game early and ran out convincing winners. For the Nomads, Simon Stubbs was their principle goal kicker, slotting seven majors, with the ever dangerous Weston Whitby and Dave Richards each kicking four. For the Cats, they were well served by journeyman forward Stu McAdam who kicked four of his own, with Jackson Bower capping a great game kicking two majors. Bower was the Cats best, getting great support from Brian Martin and Nathan May. The final score was Nomads 23.17-155 Cats 7.3-45. In other round two games The Tamworth Kangaroos defeated the Tamworth Swans 21.11-137 to 8.12-60 and in the other game the Inverell Saints defeated the Gunnedah Bulldogs 25.25-175 to 11.9-75.
In round three of the TAFL this weekend the New England Nomads are at home to the Tamworth Kangaroos, the Tamworth Swans host the Gunnedah Bulldogs and the Muswellbrook Cats are at home to the Inverell Saints.
