New England Bowls With Richie Clutterbuck
NEW England’s representatives in the Zone 3 singles failed to come home with a win.
However, John Andrews (senior) and Brian Lockyer (reserve singles) reached their respective division finals with John losing to Ross Grudgefield and Brian to Nigel McCarthy.
In the open division, Dave Wilcox won his first match against Scott Hamilton however he could not repeat his Saturday form on Sunday and went down to Nick Golledge.
In the final of this division Don Morag from North West defeated Nick Golledge 31-29.
This weekend our district pair’s winners are off to Quirindi for zone finals and the seniors Geoff Reeves and John Jackson play A. Sheppard and P. Williams from Narrabri, Mick Hamel and Brian Lockyer play G. Sharman and D. Shorten from Central Northern. Jake and Glen Graham await the winners of the match between Barwon and North West.
BCIB two bowl pairs
A FULL field of 36 pairs will take to the greens at the City club over the weekend for the BCIB annual major/minor two bowl pairs.
Three games of 21 ends will be played on Saturday and two on Sunday. Players are asked to be at the club at 9am for the draw.
The club is also calling for nominations for the annual Coca Cola one day major/minor pairs on Saturday 14 September and the City for All Seasons minor pairs in October. Full details are available at your club.
Special Olympics
I HAD a meeting with two representatives of the Special Olympics during the week and it has been decided that a Come and Try day for people with a disability will be held at the City club on Saturday 19 October.
Both Tony Bock and Nev Bajazath are endeavoring to include lawn bowls into their regional program in this area.
The City club will supply bowls and helpers and hopefully we will be able to get this up and running.
Both Tony and Nev can be contacted for further details or you can contact me.
