Tim Bonython’s New Movie “Immersion” on tonight!
Following international acclaim and awards, Immersion – The Movie is touring Australia again, with limited cinema screenings in October 2012. It is on tonight (Thursday) at Coolangatta cinemas, a must see for anyone who loves surfing and surf movies. Brilliant photography and story.
The must-see film of 2012 includes re-edited and added exclusive new footage!
From a theatrical tour with the Australian Surf Movie Festival to a hot off the press film, we are taking the viewer to embrace an unforgettable journey of various aspects of the sport of surfing.
Immersion looks into the many other genres that exist in surfing, from bodyboarding to windsurfing, paddle surfing, ski surfing and also the purest form of surfing, body surfing.
There are interviews with some of the most reputable photographers on the planet. Find out about what surfing means behind the lens and how the business has evolved.
The movie takes you behind the science of surfing, where you will witness some of the biggest swells ever ridden around the world.
It also documents events that made comprehensive and unforgettable stories that have taken the sport to a new, exciting and different level.
The story of paddle versus tow, talks about how paddling for a wave is a lot more rewarding and courageous than getting towed into one. Except when it gets TOO Big! As it did at Teahupoo in Tahiti when ‘The Code Red Swell’ was called. It was one of the biggest and most dangerous swells ever surfed at the famed surf break to date.
Through the lense of the high-speed Phantom Camera that shoots 400 frames per second, Teahupoo never looked so scary! And we couldn’t leave out the historic swell that marched into Fiji during the Volcom Pro June 2012.
Surf footage from across the globe from Jaws in Hawaii to Naraze in Portugal, Mullaghmore Head in Ireland, Shipsterns Bluff in Tasmania and The Right in Western Australia, featuring the best surfers on the planet, Immersion is a “must see” documentary for surfing enthusiasts of all tastes, genres and generations. Tickets are $20 and available at the door until sold out. $20 Adults, $15 for Seniors and children.
The only place to see it is on the big screen!

Parko number one, as the tour heads to steamer lane!!
Joel Parkinson is still number one on the ASP World Title rankings, with now only two events left in the 2012 World Title Race. Joel has a 5500 point lead over 11-times World Champion, Kelly Slater, with Mick Fanning still in the race only 200 points behind Slater, and John John Florence just 3650 points behind Mick Fanning. With 10,000 points for a first place, 8000 for second and 6500 points for third place, the title is well and truly up for grabs.
Next up is the O’Neill Cold Water Classic in Santa Cruz (Nov 1-11), and then the Pipeline Masters to round off the year in Hawaii. With Pipe being John John’s home break, and Kelly Slater the surfer to win the most Pipe Master Titles in the history of surfing, the Cold Water Classic is vital to Joel and Mick’s World Title aspirations. Both guys are looking cool and confident, and both surfers are no slouches in any wave around the world.
It is looking more and more like a World Title showdown at Pipeline, and both Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson will be well and truly in the mix. Will this be the year for Parko? He well and truly deserves a world title, but you do not just get them because you deserve it… You have to win it! Go the Cooly kids!!
