Cudgen Men’s bowls fifth division pennant team is through to the State Finals of the 2012 pennants competition.
Over the past month, the team has worked hard to win the right to take their place in the Bowls NSW Pennant Competition at Bomaderry on the South Coast in August.
They overcame Yamba by seven shots in their first game and then Yamba took on Alstonville and were able to gain a 10-shot win. This meant that it was vital for Cudgen to win last Sunday’s afternoon’s game against and Alstonville and win they did.
They were in top form, defeating Alstonville on all three rinks, with a game score of 72/39 shots giving them the overall win and booking a berth in the State Finals.
Travel arrangements and accommodation have been booked for a 14-member team to take to Bomaderry over the Bank Holiday weekend of August 3 to 6, 2012. The team is confident of a good showing, seeking the Club’s first State Pennant.
