Eight Tweed Coast swimmers have made it all the way to State this year.
The group from four local primary schools dominated at North Coast to earn their place with the elite swimmers in NSW at Primary school level.
Banora Point, who have long been one of the region’s top swimming schools, had three representatives with Indiana Johnson going through to the finals of the 50m free for junior girls. Seth Johnson dominated the 11 boys at North Coast and swam in the 50m freestyle, breaststroke and butter fly at state while nine-year old Bindi Ware made the 50m and 200m freestyle.
Cudgen’s Rory Matthews made the state finals for the under 11 boys freestyle while Hannah Mitchell, 12, from Pottsville got through in the senior breastroke and 50m free.
Tweed Heads South had three students make it through to the PSSA titles in Sydney including 12 year old Conrad Green in the 100m freestyle, 50m free, 50 back and 50 fly. Tayla Brown went through in the 13 years girls 50m freestyle while Cleo Lewis looks to be following in her swimming champion mother Toni Lewis nee McLean’s footsteps making it to state for the 50m free in the eight-years division.
While no one brought home gold all the youngsters put in big performances.
