THE Tweed Heads Seagulls head into the final round of the Intrust Super Rugby League Cup competition against the Central Capras with only pride to play for after a tough 41-24 loss to the Cutters in Mackay on the weekend.
Despite sitting only one win outside the top five the closeness of the competition and an unfortunate quirk of the draw, with Redcliffe and Norths who both sit outside the five but above Tweed set to meet this weekend, the Seagulls will fall short of post-season football by the slimmest of margins in coach Aaron Zimmerle’s maiden season at the helm.
Whilst disappointing for the club after spending a long stretch of the year in finals contention, there are brighter times ahead for the young Seagulls side which has punched well above its weight in 2013.
In the lower grades the Seagulls Colts side will travel to Toowoomba for their final match of the year looking to end their season on a high.
