Good Results for Locals at Aussie Titles

Shakira Westdorp.

NSW Surfers dominated the recent Australian Surfmasters, held at Port Macquarie over the last two weeks, but still some great results for Tweed and Gold Coast surfers.
The SUP surfing was a great result for locals, with Tweed Heads surfer Beau Nixon winning the open Men, and Shakira Westorp of Tugun gabbing the win in the Open Women’s Divisions last week, and before that Jackson Close taking out the Australian Longboard Title, Jackson also runner up in the SUP surfing event as well.
Last week saw the shortboard fraternity take part in the 2012 Australian surfmasters, and Kingscliff lass Codie Klein surfed well picking up a 4th place in the Open Women’s Division. Burleigh Boardriders Supercoach Kyle Robinson, showed how it was done, the 40 year old placing 2nd in the Over 35 Men’s Division, and making the semi-finals in the Open Men, and Single Fin division, and I reckon a gold medal in the energizer bunny stakes with total heats surfed.
It was a great 2 weeks plus of the Australian Surfmasters with some great conditions from big point waves to small fun beach breaks. All competitors that took part all agreed a great time was had.
