With 28 local and interstate teams contesting $3900 in prize money competition was always going to be tough but no one lost sight of the fact they were there to enjoy the game. Overall winners P Carey from Evans Head lead his team to victory taking out the major prize with 2 wins plus 20. J Globits and team picked up a first in section 2 and Terry Fuller led a Pottsville team to second place in the section. Ian Taylor and his team had a win in Section 3. Congratulations to the winners.
Amanda Pettit (Village Manager) from Hastings Point Retirement Community was proud to make the presentations. Rod Heaton representing Kelvin Kerkow’s Aero Bowls World at Burleigh Heads donated a Comfit Pro bowls bag as a raffle prize which was won by Des Dever of Pottsville Club.
There has been some changes at Pottsville B/C with some new faces taking over the bowls operations. The President is now Warren Hill (taking over from Des Dever), Doug Moir – Games Director (replacing Ron Parker) and Tony Halloran – Assistant Games Director and Secretary (bowls) Keith Boynton. Congratulations.
District President presented the Pottsville 6th Division with the District Pennant. Pottsville were Zone winners and went to Wagga Wagga in August to contest the State Championships.
Although unsuccessful the team gave there all. The Pottsville team was certainly unaccustomed  to the weather in Wagga Wagga but came back with nothing but high praise for the clubs facilities.
Well done Pottsville keep up the spirit.

Kingscliff  Women’s Division One Pennant side played in the New South Wales State Finals last week at Tuncurry Bowling Club, finishing a very creditable third in the state.  The gruelling schedule of 2 full games each day over seven rounds made their achievements even more remarkable.  The vocal support of the Kingscliff bowlers, who made the journey, together with high performance coach Ian (Tails) Taylor along with of manager Eileen Taylor contributed to the success of the side.  In Section 1, after six rounds, Castle Hill sat on 22 points with a bye in the final round.  Lying on 17.5 points after six rounds Kingscliff needed the full 5 points available in their final round against Port City to become Section 1 winner.  One team ably skipped by Sandra Akers held a commanding lead throughout their game eventually winning by 15 shots.  The other team skipped by Iris Azzopardi had a close game going into the final end tied at 19 all.  Sadly they went down by one shot losing their game 19 – 20 giving Kingscliff 4 out of the required 5 points.  To be runners up in their Section, just half a point behind Castle Hill, was a great achievement for Kingscliff’s first time playing pennants in New South Wales.  The eight ladies in the side were all very proud of their great achievement yet, at the same time, a little disappointed at just missing out on a flag by placing third in the State.  In Section 2 the Cabramatta side consisting of state players Karen Murphy, Julie Keegan, Lindsay Armitage, Claire Duke, Kay Moran, Carmen Anderson, Lisa Prideaux and Arleen Jeffrey swept through their rounds without dropping a single point.  They went on to defeat Castle Hill in the grand final to become State winners.
