Silcock wins tennis finals

Despite some interruptions from wet weather, Tennis Terranora have now completed their very successful 2011 Club Championships.
Former international, Grant Silcock, won the blue ribbon event, the Open Men’s Singles. Grant comfortably defeated Dave Gair of Uki, 6-1 6-0 in the final.
It was a wonderful opportunity for club members to enjoy a standard of tennis not often seen in a local tournament.
Club junior, Lauren Teitzel, took out the Ladies’ Open Title and was undefeated in the round robin format.
Lauren is a former NSW Country Age Champion and trained for a number of years with the North Coast Academy of Sport in
Coffs Harbour.
Meanwhile, the Terranora Club are progressing with their planned new tennis centre in Henry Lawson Drive, with their development application nearing approval.
There is major interest in tennis circles at the prospect of European clay courts in the first stage of the development, which would give players the opportunity to play on a genuine international surface.
