With the Australian Open Tennis over for another year, it’s time to get back into tennis, to dust off your tennis shoes and head out to the Armidale Tennis Club’s Open Day on Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 4.30pm onwards for a hit and free BBQ.
The Open Day will showcase the Club’s fantastic facilities, the friendly family atmosphere, social tennis and comps about to start, and their second-to-none Tennis Australia MLC Hot Shots and Junior Development Programs.
Junior Tennis
Armidale Tennis Club (ATC) is very fortunate to have the New England Tennis Academy based at the courts, operated by Peter Le Surf, a Tennis Australia accredited Elite High Performance Coach, and assistant coach Andre Garraud, who has just completed his Tennis Australia Club Professional qualifications. This is a course that takes over six months to complete. It is a very challenging course and a qualification to be proud of.
Peter will be running free junior coaching lessons during the Open Day, using the latest Hot Shots modified nets and balls. This will be an ideal opportunity for any juniors aged five and up to have a try of tennis while parents can have a hit at the same time!
Adult/Seniors Tennis
Tennis players of all standards are catered for at the ATC. The Monday night Men’s Comp, which has been running for over 30 years, is as strong as ever and is encouraging stronger juniors and men of all standards to participate in the comp – numbers are filling fast, but there are still a few vacancies in teams at the moment – the new comp starts on Monday, February 4.
Tuesday social tennis is from 8.30am to 12pm, just turn up on the day.
Thursday ladies comp from 9am to 12pm; and Saturday mixed comp from 1.30pm till approx 4.30pm.

Please note that all organised social and competition players must be financial members of the Club before playing.
Members can come and hit at the courts at any time, and a number of tournaments are held at the centre throughout the year.
