Caring for carers

WHO cares for the carers? There are many wonderful carers out there looking after family members who have a disability or a mental illness. Carers spend countless unpaid hours providing necessary care and need to be supported for the work they do.
The Ascent Group through its carer respite program is bringing the Petrea King’s Quest for Life program – “Self Care Matters” to Armidale on 15 May. The program is about the importance of self-care and creating resilience in one’s life.
Presented by Quest for Life senior facilitator Margie Braunstein the program will provide an excellent opportunity for carers to learn practical ways for self-care.
The goal is to support carers to continue with the commitments they have, however with tools and techniques to support themselves as well.
The program will be held at Saumarez Homestead, in the function rooms, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Assistance with transport from Armidale, Uralla or Guyra will also be provided if required. Please ring for details. The program is free of charge. Bookings are essential – phone 6776 8977.
