INTERNATIONAL students from the University of New England showcased their culture through dance at the Bupa aged care facility in Armidale last Friday for the Bupa Dance Challenge.
Students from Vietnam, Bhutan and Bangladesh took to the stage for an afternoon of dance, with residents keen to see the different and colourful dance routines.
“The Bupa Dance Challenge happens every year and inspires the community, residents and family members to come and watch some wonderful dancing,” said Bupa Armidale Recreation Officer Tanya Vallance.
Mourbi Madhubrata, 18, from Bangladesh took time out from studying for her degree in Psychology to perform a vibrant and energetic modern Bangladesh routine.
“I was in Grade 3 when I first started dancing and mum had great dreams for me,” she said.
“I really enjoy both singing and dancing and love getting involved in the community, so it was great to come along and dance here today.”
