Banora Point resident Lois O’Connor is a woman on a mission.
Lois is hoping to raise enough money to buy and kit out a support boat to be used by the Dragons Abreast and Mt Warning Dragon Boat club.
“My aim is to have the money by the end of the year,” she said.
She said the boat would be used for breast cancer survivors or those still going through the process who would love to go out on the river with the dragon boats but aren’t yet well enough to paddle.
Lois, whose older sister is a breast cancer survivor, has already raised $1150 towards the boat, thanks to her birthday bash.
She invited friends, family, dragon boat club members and members of the community and sold lots of pink ribbon and dragon products.
She still has magnetic pink ribbons for cars if anyone is interested.
Her next big fundraiser will be a games lunch in August.
