New medico a boost

ARMIDALE Hospital has appointed another permanent general physician to its Department of Medicine.
The hospital’s Director of Medical Services, Dr Max Mansoor, has welcomed Dr Yashasvi Gaddi to the team.
“Dr Yash Gaddi’s appointment further stabilises the department and will enhance the educational experience of medical students and all staff,” Dr Mansoor said.
“We are now progressing towards a critical mass of senior doctors, which will allow us to work with GPs, community health and the Tamworth and John Hunter hospitals to offer new models of care.
“These include shared care with other specialists and GPs, using telehealth technology to enhance patient care.”
Dr Gaddi most recently worked at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and at the Lyell McEwin Hospital – a teaching hospital of the University of Adelaide – where she completed her training as a general physician.
She worked at Barnsley Hospital in South Yorkshire in the United Kingdom after completing her undergraduate training in Hyderabad in India.
Dr Gaddi said Armidale Hospital staff had been very supportive and friendly, and it was a great pleasure to be a part of the team.
“As a staff specialist physician I will deliver general medical services such as managing patients with complex medical problems who are admitted to Armidale Hospital,” she said.
“Besides my role as a clinician, I will also be teaching medical students at the University of New England. I also want to be a part of ongoing research activities.”
Dr Gaddi said Armidale was a beautiful scenic country town with great landscapes.
“It is also a great place to bring up my children. Schools here have a good reputation. I found people here are very welcoming and helpful,” she said.
“The roads are amazing. It’s easy to get around to places without being held up in the traffic. Overall the lifestyle is going to be better here.”
