More than a thousand dollars was raised for Effective Aid International at a luncheon held at Bamboo Restaurant at the Grand Mercure, Casuarina.
The lunch, which also served as the launch for this season’s copy of Ocean Road Magazine, featured the latest in Asian influenced five star cooking, a live demonstration by award-winning chef Craig ‘Robbo’ Robertson and Asian-inspired entertainment by the Sakura dancers.
Guest speaker for the event was Ocean Road cover girl and NBN television personality Natalie Gruzlewski.
Effective Aid International is run by local Gold Coast couple Ian and Judy Aitchison. The Aitchisons have worked in refugee camps along the Burmese and Thailand border for nine years, changing the lives of thousands of refugees fleeing Burma.
The event was hosted by well-known Gold Coast presenter Ian Cousins.
