IT was the first of the Tweed Unlimited Arts Open Days and everywhere you turned, pieces of art were being created.
The ladies, and men too, of the TUA held their first open day of the year at the weekend. There were displays of every art and craft practised at the Banora Point-based facility and even an alpaca or two. The next open day is in November.
Open days are aimed at introducing the general public to the group, which has been around since the early 70s, and to what they do as well as to sell some of the artwork to the community.
With the weather keeping fine on Saturday, hundreds of people came along to watch the displays, enjoy soup, after picking and paying for their own bowl, and maybe even joining in or signing up for a group.
The community-based organisation offers everything from quilting to spinning and weaving, potting, painting and embroidery. TUA is a chance to learn a new skill and hang out with other like-minded crafters and artisans irrespective of your skill level.
