All across the Tweed, the end of term three meant the end of school for the region’s year 12 students as they ramp up their studies to prepare for their HSC exams.
While some schools chose to hold their School Formals during that week, for Kingscliff High it was more of a case of giving the students, parents and teachers a chance to say goodbye.
The school, chose the last day of term to hold a formal Year 12 Academic Presentation in the Kingscliff High Hall as well as a much more informal morning tea with parents and family packing the building to witness their student’s final moments at school.
It was a time to recognise achievements, showcase talents and say goodbye. It was an emotional moment for the group’s own “Mrs Chips” Year advisor Sharina Cowell as she recalled the good and the bad times of the past six years while acting principal Stuart Cutcher urged them to all to go out into the world and explore. Performances by Keeliah Frost, Hannah Harrington and Kingscliff’s own answer to John Butler and Tommy Emmanuel – Tom Dodd and an audio visual display featuring pictures from throughout the group’s six years at the school, rounded out the mornings event. They will come back this term but only to do their final exams.
