Carboot sale aids school

As fundraisers go, Pottsville Public School’s carboot sale is pretty successful.
“We’ve been running carboot sales for two years,” Michelle Acret one of the group of organisers said.
“At one stage we were doing one a term but now we have come back to twice a year.
“We are looking at running them in March and November as a regular thing.”
She said the events raise upwards of $800 for the school.
“It  depends on the barbecue – last time it rained.”
The barbecue is run by the Cabarita/Pottsville Lions Club who keep the shoppers fed with sausage sandwiches and bacon and egg rolls.
Michelle said the event usually averages 30 cars at a time, giving the shoppers plenty of variety.
“It’s a great community thing – it’s a lot of hard work but it’s worth it in the end,” she said.
And the money raised goes back to the community in the form of resources for the school, including new play equipment and new technology for the classroom.
