POPULAR Brunswick-based singer songwriter Dan Hannaford is making his presence felt on the Tweed this month, with a series of gigs across the region.
He’s showcased his talent at Australia’s biggest festivals such as the National Folk Festival, Gympie Muster and iconic Byron Bay Blues Festival and also supported the likes of Donavon Frankenreiter and The Black Sorrows, and over the years has proven a favourite with us here on the Tweed.
And while he might have been one of the region’s best kept secret in the past – the secret’s out now with his 2012 independent debut Rust & Dust featured as album of the week on Brisbane ABC Radio.
Rust and Dust was recorded at the Hannaford family’s old fishing shack, in Red Rock on the NSW North Coast with noted musician and producer, Mike McCarthy (The Lion’s Share).
Their collaboration single ’I’ve Gone Fishing’has received major airplay on ABC Radio’s fishing show, ’The Big Fish’.
Not bad for the local lad who’s buccaneer country-tinged, blues-laced, rock ‘n’ roll, setting him apart on our current scene.
