On top of the world

Taking the big leap. Nonagenarian Charlie Harvey prepares to Skydive. Picture courtesy of Gold Coast Skydive.

Turning 91 is a major milestone and so it should be marked in a memorable way – well that’s what Charlie Harvey thought when he hit the magic number last week.
And what better way to celebrate than the ultimate “adrenalin rush” – a tandem skydive over the Gold Coast.
The South Cross St Josephs Apartments resident took to the skies with Gold Coast Skydive for the experience of a lifetime.
And down on the ground his friend from St Josephs were waiting on the beach at Kirra to watch him land.
Charlie got a kick out of the jump and by being greeted by his excited friends but would he do it again?
“I would have to think about that one,” the Lancashire born nonagenarian admitted.
And of course the big adventure made a big impact with Charlie, who moved with his family from the UK in 1957 and has been a resident at Southern Cross St Josephs Apartments for the past two years, becoming an instant celebrity and turning up on the Channel Nine Today Show no less!
