Help for fire victims

The CWA rooms at Dangarsleigh were full to the brim last Wednesday with toiletries, towels and clothes that were being packed up by members of CWA Kellys Plains-Dangarsleigh for victims of the Coonabarabran fires.

After seeing the devastation on television, President Lorraine Sewell quickly mobilised her troops to collect items donated by local businesses to be packed up in bags and shipped out to people who had lost everything in the fires.

“Fifty-three homes were des-troyed in the fire at Coonabarabran, so we are putting a towel and a nice toiletry bag together,” said Lorraine. We have had such a good response from people that we also have blankets, toys and crockery.

“The chemist shops in Armidale have been fantastic with the items they have donated and a lot of members and friends have also contributed goods.”
