Centaur Public School captains declared they are ready to seize the helm and lead their fellow peers by representing their school in all matters as a united crew.
Wearing their badges with pride are elected Centaur primary captains Olivia Attenborough-Doyle, Lawrence Miles-Mwangangi, Jade Scott, Gerodie Wilson, Dylan Norman and Madeline Meharry.
The group will attend the forth-coming Halogen Foundation National leaders day at the Brisbane Convention Centre on March 11, their first appointment in their role as captain.
The day will involve five high profile speakers who inspire Australians to lead themselves and others well. This year’s speakers will include Lorin Nicholson, who was the 1st blind person to ride over 4000km across Australia, as well as 2011 young Australian of the year and youngest to sail solo unassisted around the world, Jessica Watson. Their stories are sure to challenge the students to ask themselves what goals will they set for their life and what skills and experience will they need to achieve them.
Captain Madeline Meharry, who attended the 2010 Youth Leaders day, said being a school captain is not about boasting but helping others to find the way in reaching their own goals, listening to their needs and working together to discuss school matters to make their educational environment the place they want and need it to be.
“Attending the National Leaders day last year and hearing the inspirational stories helped me to know how to get where I want to be and how,” she said.
