With their slices usually found in the baking tray and a tee-off happening when the urn runs dry – the volunteers from CanAssist Uralla are quickly polishing their golfing knowledge for this year’s major fundraiser.
The CanAssist Uralla Charity Golf Day is being held at the picturesque Uralla Golf Course on September 25, 2011 and they are hoping to attract a good turnout.
The group’s president, Kaye Clack, said this year’s major fundraiser was a big change from last year’s Bridal Expo and admitted that, while the members were not great golfers, they know how to host an enjoyable event.
“We approached the golf club president, Geoff Wood, as well as member Penny Glock who were very encouraging and supportive to the idea of a fundraising day,” Mrs Clack said.
“The CanAssist members aren’t that familiar with golf, but we’ll be concentrating on preparing a delicious lunch, keeping the drinks cold and organising prizes, all the things we do well.
“The day will be a great chance for a family day out to enjoy spring, or get a few friends together for a fun round of golf. Junior golfers accompanied by a non-playing adult will be able to complete a nine-hole game.
“There will be prizes for men’s, women’s, mixed and junior players, as well as the usual raffles.
“The $25 entry fee will cover your game, a drink voucher, prizes and lunch including some sweet treats afterwards.
“All money raised goes directly to CanAssist Uralla to assist people in our community who are living with cancer and facing all the unexpected costs that can entail.”
The day is a Four Person Ambrose with a shotgun start at 9.30am. Nominations can be made at the club before Sunday, September 18. For more information about the day or to make a donation to CanAssist Uralla, contact Mrs Clack on 6778 4690 or Lisa Williams on 6778 7193.
