Are you ready for a little Women’s Stuff?
Following the success of their first foray, Kingscliff businesses Babalou and Boardwalk Books are teaming up again for the second of their “meet the author” events.
And, while first author John Howard is a hard act to follow (just ask Tony Abbott and Julia Gillard), Kaz Cooke might be just the woman to do it. She’s fun, feisty and more than a touch irreverent and quickly becoming beloved by a generation or two of Australian women.
Kaz is an Australian writer, cartoonist and broadcaster whose books have sustained two generations of Australian women with sensible advice, backed by expert opinions, delivered in a fun, friendly approach with trademark jaunty cartoons.
Her bestselling books still in print and regularly updated (with combined sales well over a million copies) include Up the Duff: The Real Guide to Pregnancy, Kidwrangling: Looking After Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers, and the multi-award winning Girl Stuff: Your Full-on Guide to the Teen Years.
She will be at Babalou, Kingscliff on Friday, October 14 from 5.30-7pm (free entry) for a talk and Q&A on her new book Women’s Stuff, released this week.
A former news reporter and features journalist and columnist, for The Age, the Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian and many magazines, Kaz began her journalism career straight from school, in 1981 and has been writing ever since.
She now lives in Melbourne with her common-law husband and the inspiration for many of her books – her daughter.
Following the success of her teen girl bible (for mums and teens) Girl Stuff – Kaz has stepped up with a handbook for women.
Written in extensive consultation with more than 100 medical, psychological and other practical experts and informed by over 7000 real women who responded to an online research survey, Women’s Stuff provides the most up-to-date advice and useful information possible, as well as handy hints, facts and invaluable lists of recommended services, books and websites to help women avoid the utter piffle proliferating on the net.
With her trademark wit and irreverence, Kaz Cooke cuts through many claims fed to women by pharmaceutical companies, bonkers new agers and celebrities, countering the obsession with our appearance and tackling the debate about science versus nature in her pursuit of the truth.
With more than 700 pages, a unique, easy-to-use index and a bright, friendly design featuring Kaz’s colourful illustrations, Women’s Stuff is the go-to guide for all women aged 18 to 108.
