Staff working in Catholic Education within the Armidale Diocese have been recognised for innovation and dedication to education at the inaugural Spirit of Catholic Education Awards held last Tuesday, coinciding with celebration during NSW Catholic Schools Week.
A rigorous nomination process modelled on the Australia Day Awards resulted in the selection of eight award recipients for their exceptional service. The Spirit of Catholic Education Awards recognise outstanding contributions in the categories of Early Career Teacher, Experienced Teacher, Volunteer Supporter, School Officer, Innovative Program and Leadership/Lifetime Contribution Award.
“The purpose of the Spirit of Catholic Education Awards is to recognise the contribution of our most exceptional people, whether working in a paid or voluntary capacity,” said John Mula, Director of Schools for the Armidale Diocese.
“This is especially important, as our most valued contributors rarely seek acknowledgement of their efforts, relying instead on their commitment to be part of the mission and values of the Catholic Church.”
A Special Award ceremony was held at St Anne’s Hall, St Mary’s Primary School last Tuesday, May 1 at 12.30pm. The Award Ceremony was preceded by celebration of the Eucharist at 10.30am in Sts Mary and St Joseph’s Cathedral, Armidale, celebrated by the Most Reverend Bishop Michael Kennedy, Bishop of Armidale.
