Sharp dresser goes clubbing

The Seagulls Licensed Club had a pretty prickly visitor intent on getting a meal and having a bit of fun.
Although that doesn’t sound unusual, this visitor was a local echidna.
The native animal made its presence felt after club duty manager Andrew Glossop heard a funny noise in the back garden of the club facing the water.
“While doing his rounds this morning, he heard a noise and, upon further investigation, he found a large adult sized echidna, nestled comfortably in the garden bed,” club marketing coordinator Carmel Chetcuti said.
“He called Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary who put him in touch with their rescue staff who instructed him to relocate the echidna to an area with no traffic and to wear gloves while doing so.
“Our maintenance staff member, Jason Turner, managed to gently remove the echidna from the garden into a box. He then relocated the animal further up the Oyster track away from roads and traffic.”
