The beach is back

The Kingscliff and District Business community is rejoicing as sand returns to the beach – just in time for summer.
While there is still erosion occurring further north, a large amount of sand has returned just near the rock wall, giving the town a large amount of beach area.
“With the forecast of hot summer days on the beach, the Kingscliff and District Business community is looking forward to welcoming visitors from all over the world,” Kingscliff and District Business community president Dennis Eyre said.
“Every day sees the ocean bringing more sand to widen our beach.
“After last year’s successful NSW Surf Life Saving Championships, businesses are gearing up for another busy time as an anticipated 6000 of State’s elite surf lifesavers return for the 2012 Championships in the first two weekends in March.
“Many of the competitors and their families were so impressed with the venue last year that they have already booked their accommodation in Kingscliff and the nearby Salt Village for the coming carnival. A spokesperson for the visiting surf clubs said that clubs would now be looking to secure bookings in local restaurants for dinners to celebrate the achievements of their team members.”
Dennis said as a warm up for the 2012 NSW Championships, the Cudgen Headland Surf Club will be hosting an Open Carnival on Sunday December 18 which will attract competitors from the south at Yamba to include some Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast clubs. “Competitors see this as an excellent opportunity to prepare themselves for the State and Australian Championships.”
“The Kingscliff and surrounding district offers a wide range of accommodation options available for holiday makers including resort style apartments, holiday units and cottages or cabins, villas and caravan sites at the local tourist parks,” he said.
“Enquiries and bookings for accommodation have been steadily filling for the summer season right through to Easter in April.”
