Patients at Armidale Hospital will be able to relax with more freedom, with the purchase of a new lifting chair donated by New England Girls’ School.
The gold coin entry to the NEGS Beauty, Fashion, Hair, Health and Wellbeing Expo on April 2 raised just under $450, which was donated to the hospital for new equipment.
Nurse unit manager Nicci Mortimer said the chair would join three others in the surgical ward.
“They have an adjustable height and help patients such as those who have had hip replacements keep their joints at the correct angle and alignment. We would like to thank NEGS for the donation,” she said.
NEGS Principal Ian Downs said donating the gate takings to the hospital fitted in with the philosophy of the school.
“With the focus of the expo being on health and wellbeing, it was a natural fit for the school to support our community’s hospital in this way,” he said.
Hosted by the NEGS Foundation, the biennial expo attracted hundreds of people to interact with 23 stallholders and meet TV nutritionist and author Dr Joanna McMillan Price.
