Marketing Q & A brings solutions

There were plenty of “tough questions’ for a panel of marketing experts at a recent Business Chamber event held at the Armidale TAFE Campus.
Entitled “From Fundamentals to Facebook’ the lively “discussion’ was hosted by the Armidale Business Chamber, and featured local guest speakers, Andrew Murray, Dr Roger Epworth and Sam Austrin-Miner.
All three are leaders in their fields and provided participants with a variety of approaches to business marketing; from the essential basics to the opportunities brought through technology and global competition.
Andrew Murray, is a successful businessman and consultant who has learnt through experience what works and what doesn’t when it comes to marketing tools.
Andrew presented his “Seven tips in Seven minutes’ – a practical approach to marketing advice based on his broad business experience and appreciation of the importance of good data, motivated staff and the power of a competitive strategy.
Andrew was joined by Dr Roger Epworth. Roger has more than 20 years experience in marketing for small businesses and a PhD in Services Marketing. He discussed the principles of marketing – showing that even in this very rapidly changing business world, the 4 P’s (product, place, price and promotion) still apply
The third panel member Sam Austrin-Miner, Senior Partner to the Public Sector within Attentive Consulting gave the audience some insight into the potential of the digital economic model and warned that all businesses need to develop an online presence without delay.
One member of the audience, Dr Peter Cull from ICT International, was able to share his insights with the panel and the broader gathering regarding the value he finds in using effective analytics tools as part of ICT’s marketing strategy.
“The data we can gather using Google analytics is extremely valuable in helping direct some of our decision making- especially in terms of the use of our “marketing dollars’. We certainly believe that money spent in analysing our web presence provides valuable insights into our customers we couldn’t get in any other way.”
The Armidale Business Chamber conducts panel events and workshops throughout the year.
