With more than 80 blocks sold in the past six months in Salt, the Tweed Coast property and building market seems to be on its way back up, according to local real estate agents.
Sales executive Peter Brussel of Colliers International Real Estate Casuarina, who jointly marketed the new releases of land with Ray Real Estate said the area seemed to be going against the national trend.
“We (in conjunction with Ray) have sold more than 80 Salt and Seaside City blocks since October,” he said.
And local builders see it as a good sign for the local economy too – expecting plenty of flow-on work over the next few months.
Peter Leotta of GJ Gardener at Tweed said work had slowed right down in the Tweed, however the success of the newest Salt releases had brought renewed optimism.
“This has got to be good for the economy – having a shot in the arm like this,” he said
“The expectation is that it will create lots of construction jobs over the coming months and help to reinvigorate the immediate area.
“There hasn’t been a lot work in recent times and we have had a great number of losses (of tradesmen) to the mines. But this is a fantastic result for this region and it will have a flow-on effect for the local economy. This is going to flow through to local builders and building suppliers.
“We will be giving our local trades a reason to stay and get our region working again. Together with the local agents, we believe that this is the start of a better level of activity.
“We are so excited that we will be launching the only new 2012 display home in Stage 8 of Salt Village.”
Peter Brussel said there was no real trend to land, the sellout with buyers coming from the local area and all around Australia.
He said market prices meant the land now “appealed to everyone from first home buyers to investors”.
“Astute buyers can see that these are the best value blocks of land along the Eastern Seaboard,” he said. “We are defying national trends.” He said the location, just 15 minutes from an International Airport and close to restaurants and shops and local amenities, had made the blocks attractive prospects in the current market.
Mr Leotta said such was the confidence of his company in the area that they had just launched their “Coastal Living Collection”, a unique set of 12 plans that are specifically designed for the Tweed Coastal strip.
“They are designed to be extremely cost effective, with architectural flair and optional floor plan extensions,” he said.
