Blooming marvellous display for City

The champion Dendrobium amethystoglossum orchid on exhibit at last year’s show at Tweed City. Judges were impressed with this prized exhibit.

Following on from the successful Murwillumbah orchid show last month Tweed District Orchid Society members are busy preparing their blooms for the upcoming Tweed City Show to be held outside Coles on October 11, 12 and 13.
There were many beautiful orchids on display in Murwillumbah and the Tweed City show promises to be bigger, better and beautiful.
With a month between shows, different and varied orchids will be in bloom, making the Tweed show quite unique.
Mike Carmody, champion cattleya grower, will again have many orchids on exhibit. But he won’t have the competition all his own way with many growers keen to take the top spot.
And don’t worry if you have an “orchid” question members will be on-hand to answer all your  questions regarding growing and care of orchids.
There will also be a large number of plants for sale so that visitors can expand their own collections with quality plants.
So come along, view locally grown orchids at their best, ask your questions and take home some more beautiful plants.
Tweed District Orchid Society meets on the fourth Thursday of the month in Tweed Heads in the Masonic Hall and members offer ongoing support and advice on this rewarding and interesting hobby.
Orchids are benched and judged at each meeting, which commences at 7.30pm. (NSW time).
