Local author for showcase

Tweed based author John Bailey will showcase his latest book ‘Into The Unknown’ at Tweed Heads Library on Tuesday, January 24 at 10am.
The award-winning writer has turned his attention on the tormented life and expeditions of Ludwig Leichhardt for his latest book.
John Bailey has now written six books.
‘The White Divers of Broome’ was published in 2001 and has been turned into a play by Hilary Bell and will Premiere at the Perth Festival in 2012.
It won the NSW Premier’s Award for Regional History and the Western Australia’s Premier’s Prize.
His second book, ‘The Lost German Slave Girl’, published in 2004 was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Prize, the NSW History Prize and the Australian Crime Writers Award. It was published in the USA in January 2005 and now two New York producers plan to turn it into a movie.
‘Mr Stuart’s Track’, the biography of explorer John McDouall Stuart was released in 2006.
For his success John was awarded the Centenary Medal by the Australian Government for services to literature in 2003.
