Festival promises sounds to delight

THE French Music Festival La Francoise (pronounced Francaise), will take place in the Armidale Uniting Church from Friday 21 June (opening concert 7pm) to Sunday 23 June.
The festival is organised by international organist, pianist and harpsichordist Dr Jan-Piet Knijff DMA, FAGO, who also organised the two festivals held last year in Armidale to great acclaim: the Beethoven Festival, and A Whole New World, a festival of the music of Brahms and Dvorak.
The French Music Festival will show case a wide range of exquisite music from early French to classical, 19th and 20th century composers and will even include songs made famous by Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel.
A host of talented musicians will come from Armidale, Brisbane, Newcastle and even Broken Hill to take part, including Samantha Cobcroft, star of many Armidale High School musicals several years ago. She is now a successful soprano, music teacher and choir leader in Newcastle. There will be a delightful concert given by children.
