YOUNG piano players took to the stage at the 2013 Armidale Eisteddfod on Friday.
Adjudicator for the day’s performances Richard Morphew said the standard was very strong across the different age groups.
“It has been a very high standard with the children, they are also very well prepared,” Mr Morphew said.
“They are doing things that are very challenging and coping admirably.
“The teaching is of a very high standard and this enables the young people to play with a value that is appropriate for their level of learning.”
He said eisteddfods play a vital role along with music education in school in developing top class musicians.
“Eisteddfods forms an important part of the social aspects of music,” Mr Morphew said.
“The word eisteddfod is Welsh, it means the coming together of people who have the same interest of art in one form or another who come to enjoy and share their love of music with other people.”
To conclude the 2013 Armidale Eisteddfod, a gala concert will be held at the Old Teachers College Auditorium from 2-4pm on Sunday 16 June.
