Secure future landline access

DID you know that our phone network is being switched off?
Armidale’s copper phone network is scheduled to be turned off in May 2014. If you want a landline, you will need to be connected to the National Broadband Network by then.
Residents are reminded that it’s a deadline they can’t ignore, because existing landline and/or internet services simply won’t work after the disconnection date.
The good news, though, is that there are telecommunications options – and you could be better off from making the switch.
A free NBN phone information evening is being held next Wednesday, in which NBN experts will advise on what, how and how much it will cost to make the switch.
Presented by Armidale Computers and Activ8me, the NBN Phone Info Evening will outline what will happen once the old Telstra copper is switched off next May, what householders and business operators will need to do, and some of the options for new NBN phone and internet services.
Participants will also be able to get hands-on with the NBN and see how it can meet their specific needs.
The free event takes place Wednesday 12 June, 5.30pm-7pm at Armidale City Bowling Club. Refreshments will be provided. To attend, register by this Friday onarmidale@activ8.net.au or (02) 8651 4818.
