Thousands raised

New England Local Area Commander Bruce Lyons would like to thank the community for digging deep to support the family of slain Tamworth Police Officer Senior Constable David Rixon.
Commander Bruce Lyons took the opportunity to thank the community during the Day on the Green event at Petersons Winery on Saturday.
“I would like to thank the good people of Armidale and the New England for digging deep today in support of the David Rixon Appeal,” Commander Bruce Lyons said.
“Tragically we had one of our own gunned down on the streets of Tamworth.
“The response from New South Wales communities and beyond has been overwhelming.
“David Rixon was one of those very proud police officers who represented everything good in policing and I know the community have much respect for NSW Police Officers.
“I assure you David Rixon had equally as much respect for the public and he did everything as a police officer for the good of the community.”
Commander Bruce Lyons would like to thank the organisers of A Day on the Green and Colin Peterson of Petersons Winery for their substantial support of the David Rixon Appeal.
“Today we have raised over $10,000 for the David Rixon Appeal.”
