Well-known Australian comedian Col Elliott will host a special fundraising breakfast at Cudgen Leagues Club on October 17.
The Red Apple Breakfast for Bowel Cancer Australia will begin at 7am.
Organiser Jayne Henry said it was a great cause raising awareness and funds for Bowel Cancer Australia.
“We will have a few guest speakers and the event MC is comedian Col Elliott, so it should be a great way to start the day,”
she said.
“Ticket price includes tea, coffee, juice and fruit on arrival; a hot breakfast; lucky door prize and a thank you gift bag.
“Raffles are available for purchase on the morning for a chance to win one of our donated prizes.
“We will also be auctioning a gorgeous portrait donated by local and highly acclaimed artist, Vanna Bertoldini-Fry, which she painted while living in Firenze (Florence).”
Jayne said bowel cancer was the “big second”.
“In Women – second highest diagnosed cancer behind breast cancer; In Men – second highest diagnosed cancer behind prostate cancer; and it is one of the biggest killing cancers in Australia – second behind lung cancer,” she said.
“It is a quiet achiever and we would like to make more people aware of this prominent disease and raise some money and have some fun in the process.”
