It’s rare, if ever, that two boys from Pottsville will appear on the national stage at the same time, but that is just what’s about to happen next week when Max Murray and Jake Richards compete in the National Primary School Athletics Finals in Adelaide.
These two Pottsville Public School students have excelled in their disciplines, impressing the NSW selectors, Max making it in the 100m sprint and Jake as a high jumper, achieving podium positions at the NSW Primary Schools titles at Homebush recently.
As a result, they are competing in the Nationals in multiple events and are set to leave for the titles on November 22. They will be gone for a week. This is their third trip this year, having gained representative honours at the Regional and State Finals.
This is an expensive exercise and their families have gone all out to help them achieve representation. A fundraising event is to be held on Sunday, November 18 at the Pottsville Beach Sports Club to assist them to compete.
This should be a fun day and your support would be very welcome. There will be a jumping castle and fire engine for the kids, barefoot bowls, music, sausage sizzle, raffles and bargains available at auction.
Jake and Max expect to do well. They have been in training since their last competition and Max is now much faster out of the blocks and Jake is reaching new heights.
Come along from noon on Sunday, November 18 to the Pottsville Beach Sports Club to support these two young Pottsville champions.
