THERE is nothing like stopping for a nice morning tea on a busy day and if it also raises money for cancer research then it’s even better.
Ripples Licensed Café at BIG4 North Star Holiday Resort will host an ‘Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’ on Thursday 16 May from 9.30am to noon, and are calling on locals and residents to join the ‘party’ to help boost money raised on the day for cancer research.
BIG4 North Star owners, Ian and Diana Beadel, are providing the venue, food and staff for the function free-of-charge to assist the organisers of the morning tea, North Star Resort Social Club.
Ripples Chef Graham Terrey and his team will serve up tea and coffee, along with lashings of scones, cakes, sandwiches and special treats on the day.
Then on Thursday, 23 May organisations across the Tweed are getting behind the annual “Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea” – which is now in its 20th year.
The NRMA in Wharf Central at Tweed Heads will hold their event from 9am and invite everyone to come along and join in the fun and fund-raising.
The Banora Point Uniting Church is hosting their event from 9.30am to 11.30am on Friday, May 24 at the church hall at 2 Darlington Drive, Banora Point. The “cuppa and chat” morning will feature bottomless cups of tea and coffee, scones with jam and cream or cheese and biscuits are on offer for $6.
Meanwhile fashion, passion and fundraising will be the order of the day at Saltbar Beachbar and Bistro on Thursday, May 23.
Saltbar Beachbar and Beachbar will host Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, featuring a fashion parade by On Kliff fashion boutique from 10am to noon.
Event organiser Natasha Lynch lost her mother to cancer in 2000, and her passion to help make a difference has led to the creation of this inaugural event at Saltbar Beachbar and Bistro.
“Cancer is personal” is part of the campaign for Cancer Council to help raise awareness and funds, and this is certainly the case, and inspiration for, this year’s event at Saltbar Beachbar and Bistro.
Natasha Lynch, a local resident, aims to help contribute towards the goal of $13 million for cancer research and patient support in the 20th Annual Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea for Australian Cancer Council.
Natasha said: “I’ve just recently joined a fabulous mobile designer homewares company, Oasis Homewares. They are great supporters of all cancer charities and are willing to kindly donate 15 per cent of all sales made on Thursday 23 May, along with $15 for every style session booked.”
“Cancer takes the lives of thousands of people every year. If we could all raise a small amount of money, we would be a big step closer to finding a cure. My goal is to raise $2000, fingers crossed with local support we will easily exceed this goal!”
She said she had received amazing support from the Tweed Coast community, including Jeunesse, Anti Ageing, MooGoo, Virtual Gallery, Tina’s Style Centre, Breathe, IGA Pottsville, Aqua Pottsville, Zingara, Oasis Homewares and Yours Truly Lingerie.
Tickets cost $15 and include morning tea on the deck, accompanied by a fashion parade by local fashion boutique On Kliff, and Ms Lynch will share more about her personal story and how you can help make a difference.
Proceeds of the event will be presented to Australian Cancer Council.
