WORK has begun on the highly anticipated first stage of The Village at Casuarina Beach, paving the way for the development of new home sites and a retail and commercial centre by early next year.
The Village will deliver new road networks to link central and southern Casuarina, with a Coles supermarket, specialty shops and a childcare centre planned for stage one.
The current civil works program – which is being undertaken by Hutchinson Builders – will see Dianella Drive become a private cul-de-sac, with the creation of a new entry to Tweed Coast Way and the delivery of a new ’link road’ which will transform Casuarina Way into a continuous thoroughfare from north to south.
In addition to roadworks, Hutchinson Builders will clear and level the site in preparation for the construction of the retail precinct and 38 home sites .
The Village at Casuarina Beach is being developed by Ballina-based Clarence Property Corporation.
Development manager Paul Rippon believes the civil works program are expected to take 32 weeks to complete, with the first residential and commercial buildings set to start coming out of the ground by early 2014.
“The Village at Casuarina Beach has been referred to as the ’missing link’ in this Tweed Coast community, as it will significantly improve connectivity, convenience and lifestyle for residents,” he said.
“It has taken a number of years to reach the point of having bulldozers on-site and I know many locals will be pleased that all of this new amenity is a step closer to fruition.
“Working with Consolidated Properties, we are excited to see the delivery of a full-line Coles supermarket so residents no longer have to go to Kingscliff or Tweed to shop, along with a child care centre to cater to the growing number of families in the area.
“The amount of interest we have received for our first stage of land shows that these new amenities are a huge drawcard, and that we have got it right in terms of the product mix and pricing of our home sites – all of which are within easy walking distance of shops, parks and the beach.
“There are also six medium density sites being developed as part of this first stage, to be released to the market a bit further down the track.”
Future stages of The Village at Casuarina Beach will comprise additional residential sites, along with a new beachfront recreation precinct, which will feature extensive parklands, improved beach access and a new premises for dining and entertainment. Work on this precinct is expected to start next year.
