POLICE have charged a man over an assault at Armidale which has left another man with possible permanent injuries.
The 25-year-old man was allegedly kicked and punched in the head repeatedly while at Dumaresq Dam around 10pm on Friday 9 August 2013.
His car was then allegedly stolen. It was found dumped and burnt out a short distance away.
The victim was taken to Armidale Hospital. He remains in a stable condition but might be left with permanent eyesight problems as a result of the injuries he suffered.
Detectives from New England Local Area Command were called to the scene and arrested a 20-year-old woman nearby.
Police then arrested a 22-year-old man at his home in Armidale around 7am the next day (Saturday 10 August).
He has been charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm; take and drive conveyance; destroy property by fire and several other traffic offences.
The man was refused bail. The woman was released without charge at this stage.
