For almost 30 years the people of Kingscliff have been heading down town to Lions Park for the annual Kingscliff Community Carols By Candlelight.
Right by the ocean and in the heart of the town local children and artists from Kingscliff and surrounding area gather together to sing, dance, eat and have fun.
This year’s event will be held at Lions Park on Thursday, December 15.
“All the artists are excited and ready to have a fun evening and hope that everyone joins in the spirit of Christmas and brings their best singing voices with them,” organiser Gillian Hayllar said.
“The park looks lovely with all the work that the council have done and that Santa has definitely let me know that he is going to drop in to say hi to all the children.
“All we need is for this rain to go away and we will have a wonderful time.
“I believe it must be nearly 30 years now and – The community spirit that is engendered by this event is immeasurable.
“The caravan park visitors who arrive each year always want to know when it is on.
“It is a family night – the children’s faces are a delight to watch….they dance in front of the stage, they get so excited when we ask them silly questions, and tell them silly jokes and scream their heads off when we announce Santa…..They all want to talk to him after the show – the magic is still there and I personally would want to keep that magic for as long as possible.”
As always the Lions Club will be selling hamburgers and sausage sizzle – all very family affordable. Also cold drinks. Eveready candles will be on sale ( and the organisers really want to thank Eveready for their sponsorship) as well as glow sticks.
This year’s line-up includes Grace Steel from Kingscliff High, John Bennett and Mark Meeuwsen, Jean Stone, Michelle Cook, Peter Tanna, Andrea Szabo and of course stalwarts Paul Ensbey and Gillian Hayllar and performers from Cudgen, Kingscliff and St Anthony’s Schools – oh and some guy called Santa!
