Christmas is a time of gathering as much as it is a time of giving and so what better time for members of the region’s three major businesses groups to come together to celebrate their achievements and also look to the future.
The Chambers of Commerce from Murwillumbah, Tweed and Kingscliff took a little time off, from what is a busy time of year, to get together for a combined Christmas party at Meleuca Station near Chinderah.
Tweed group head Rory Curtis told the members of the three organisations that his group had been “doing quite a bit” in recent months including adding a bit of Christmas cheer to the region by putting up 100 Christmas-themed banners from Boundary Street down through South Tweed. He said 10 sponsors had come on board to create the banners and give the Tweed a little of the Christmas spirit which seems to invade our Gold Coast neighbours each year.
“North of the Border, it looks like Santa has been to town,” he told the Tweed’s business community.
It is hoped the banners will help remind everyone to shop locally at this time of year.
The combined Christmas party will not be the last time the groups get together with a combined breakfast planned for early next year, at a venue to be announced.
