Paws for thought

It is that time of year again, where pooches of all shapes, sizes and breeds grab their owners and head to Kingscliff for the annual Million Paws Walk.
Last year hundreds of dogs, from Great Danes to Chihauhaus, came out for the RSPCA event. This year, the Millon Paws Walk will be held on Sunday, May 20 at Jack Bayliss Park, Kingscliff – registration at 9am and walks starting at 10.30am along the beach.
But the event, organised by the Tweed Shire Branch of the RSPCA, is more than just a big parade of pooches (and believe me it is quite a sight to see).
It is aimed to raise awareness and money for the RSPCA and everything they do.
And it’s a pretty good family day out too, with the Lissy Stanton Band playing and food and information stalls available, dog demonstrations and even a visit by Big Dog.
There will be some great competitions including musical sit, look-alike, fastest feeder, best trick and best dressed awards.
Local vets and other local pet suppliers have once again generously donated vouchers which will be auctioned before the walks (there are two walks – one of two kilometres and one of four kilometres).
