As a part of the official program for Seniors’ Week, the Tweed Seniors’ Week Committee will encourage seniors to take a bite out of life with a Healthy Living event.
The event at Jack Bayliss Park in Kingscliff on Wednesday, March
23, will promote and educate the Tweed Shire’s Seniors on the benefits of physical activity and good nutrition.
The aim also is to link Seniors with existing physical activity groups and organisations within the shire.
“Tasting Life – Because life is delicious” will be held from 8am to 11am, at the northern end of the park in Marine Parade.
The day will begin with a guided historical “Umbrella” walk led by Julia Gill and Liz Patterson, Health promotion staff from North Coast Area Health Service.
This will then be followed by a talk by Kimberly Reed, Dietitian from Great Ideas in nutrition. A cooking display by local Chef Juan Erezuma will take place at the public BBQs on site.
“We will have demonstrations and ‘come and try’ sessions throughout the morning also,” organiser Tanya Erezuma said.
The information tables will be available from 8am to 11am.
