If you have ever wondered what goes on inside a police station or just want to have a nosey around at what local law enforcement looks like from the trenches then Axle, the detection dog, is inviting you to come along to the Armidale Police Station tomorrow, Thursday April 19 for an open day to coincide with Youth Week activities.
There will be guided tours of the Armidale Police Station at 11.30am and 1.30pm with a stall set up in the foyer with handouts and giveaways.
Senior Constable and Crime Prevention Officer, Mandy Vaughan, is encouraging parents to bring their kids down tomorrow for one of the tours around the station.
“This is a chance to open up the station for the kids during Youth Week,” said Mandy Vaughan.
“The kids can come down and get to know us and have a look around the station.
“Senior Constable Leanne Bell will put Axle the detection dog through his paces and a highway car will be on hand to have a look at.

Blue Light Disco at the PCYC
This Friday April 20 there will be two Blue Light Discos; a junior disco for primary age children from 5.30 to 7.00pm followed by a drug and alcohol free senior disco for high school age children (13 to 17).
“We have been trying to get the Blue Light Disco back as a regular event in Armidale,” said Mandy Vaughan.
“Again it’s a great opportunity for us to get to know our local youth community.
“This will give Senior Constable Petah Devine, who has just started down at the PCYC, a chance to engage with the local kids.”
