THE town of Bundarra, west of Armidale, has recently had a big win in securing over $3 million in funding for a new flood resistant Emu Crossing Bridge.

The community has embraced a new infrastructure campaign and is now seeking funding for a town swimming pool.
A recent public meeting saw the election of a SINK OR SWIM committee to head up the campaign. The committee members are Rachel King, Sherri Grant, Ami Ridgewell, Angela Iskov, Chris Edwards and Uralla Shire Deputy Mayor Bob Crouch, who chaired the meeting.
The community has been surveyed and a proposal has been prepared for Uralla Shire Council.
The group is advocating the health and fitness benefits of a public swimming pool, while also highlighting the need for recreational infrastructure, particularly for the town’s youth.
However there is more than the construction or building costs to consider. The SINK OR SWIM committee and Uralla Shire Council will need to identify and address maintenance and operational costs.
“A swimming pool would be so good for the kids, for our young families and even our older residents,” Bundarra Publican, Rose Higgins said.
“We have a tight-knit community here and we’ll do what it takes to make it work.”
