Pottsville teen on Splendour stage

By TANIA PHILLIPS

A POTTSVILLE teen is set to perform on the Splendour In The Grass stage at the event next weekend at Yelgun on the edge of the Tweed and Byron Shires.

Talented guitarist Tom Dodd, who finished Year 12 at Kingscliff High last year – and wowed the audience and his classmates with a performance at the Year 12 awards ceremony last yer, was one of nine lucky winners.
It is the second year that the Busker Stage has been featured at the internationally recognised festival. The stage is aimed at showcasing home-grown busking talent from the Far North Coast NSW region – including Tom – who has been likened to a young Tommy Emmanuel or John Butler.
Auditions for the Busker Stage took place Sunday, June 30 in Byron. Hopefuls took to the stage performing two of their best tunes to an audience of Splendour judges and supporters from near and far to win one of nine spots on the local talent stage.
